Subject: | Fund Raiser List of Contributors - Please Make A Contribution |
Today!
Each year at the end of the List Fund Raiser, I post a message acknowledging everyone
that so generously made a Contribution to support the Lists. Its sort of
my way of publicly thanking everyone that took a minute to show their appreciation
for the Lists.
Won't you take a moment and assure that your name is on that List of Contributors
(LOC)? As a number of members have pointed out over the years, the List seems
at least - if not a whole lot more - valuable as a building/flying/recreating/entertainment
tool as your typical magazine subscription!
Please take minute and assure that your name is on this year's LOC! Show others
that you appreciate the Lists. Making a Contribution to support the Lists is
fast and easy using your Credit card or Paypal on the Secure Web Site:
http://www.matronics.com/contribution
or by dropping a personal check in the mail to:

I would like to thank everyone that has so generously made a Contribution thus
far in this year's List Fund Raiser! Remember that its YOUR support that keeps
these Lists going and improving! Don't forget to include a little comment about
how the Lists have helped you!
Best regards,

Subject: | AMD Zodiac and Wikipedia |
Hello Zodiac-fans
Can anybody track entries within Wikipedia? I was surprised to see that recently someone added an "incident" note in the Wikipedia Zodiac XL entry, stating that the airplane is grounded in Europe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZODIAC_XL
Although the note is only factual, it still seems to me that somebody wants to
deliberately harm the good reputation of Zenair+AMD. I would be interesting to
know who wrote this entry!

Anyone can see history information for an article. Click on the History tab
at the top of the page.
Looks like that note was added by someone who's not registered, or wasn't
logged in, to Wikipedia, since all that's shown is that it was from the IP
address 24.132.159.25.

I disagree. The note states a demonstrable, verifiable fact, and so belongs
in the article. Wikipedia is not just a compendium of good things about the
subject of an article. It's entirely suitable for inclusion. Once the Dutch
get back from vacation and do their jobs, and come up with a resolution,
that, too, belongs in the article.

You are right, the information might belong into Wikipedia.
I was just surprised that it took only such a short time (after the dutch AD was
released) and that somebody (who obviously knows the aircraft) puts it there.
Cheers Martin

Subject: | Upholstery and/or carpet source for my 601XL? |
Well, to save a few bucks I'll be making my own seats ... Thanks Jeff from www.ch601.org for posting your pic's and ideas on the subject, and as always Larry Mcfarland for all your help with examples (and for my custom radiator louvers!!).
I see that some of you guys use standard car seat covers over your custom foam
seats ... I shall do the same because I cannot sew (great idea). But as for the
carpet for sides and floor (and baggage area), I'm having a hard time with this.
I know it should be lightweight, avoiding foam padding that could deteriorate
over time, but I'm having trouble finding a good local source for this. I
think standard auto carpeting would be good, with its typical insulating material
under it. I'd be more that happy to use that in all those areas (and maybe
without insulation for baggage area) but all I can find on the Internet so far
is performed carpet for specific makes and model cars.
Has anybody found a good source I can order from online? Hopefully some company
that has various colors and web pic's to look at etc etc.
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Kevin,
I got my upholstery fabric, backer foam sheet, carpet and an plastic upholstery
board from Airtex Products, Inc..? I think I ordered on the web, but their phone
no. is 215-295-4115. They mainly sell high-end stuff, but they will also sell
small quantities. All their stuff is made for airplanes.

Subject: | Re: Edge Distance At Ends Of Rib Flanges |
Dave,
What I have done is mark a rivet hole 10mm from each end and use a rivet spacing
tool set to 40 mm or less to balance the rest of the rivet line. That way they
all have good even spacing and the ends are correct.
Hope that helps,

Subject: | Wire Size For VDO Fuel Senders |
I tried to find information on this in the archives, but was not successful.
Can anyone tell me what size wire I should be using for the VDO fuel
senders? From my reading, I understand that wire should be sized based on
the current load of the device and any derating factor if placed in a
bundle. However, there is no amperage information provided with the fuel
senders. The only information I could find, in the assembly guide, is the
variable resistance (from approx. 70 ohms at empty position to approx. 10
ohms at full position). Does the wire size actually depend on what I will
be using on the other end for the fuel gauges?
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Dave Van Lanen

Has anyone got a picture they can post or link to of a MGL voyager panel in

I have found one of the huge Odessy but not of the newer Voyager.
Need to try and visualize if I like it or not.
Thanks all.

Attached is a small bit-map file with the 601 panel and Voyager outlines.
This will give you a little more accurate feel for how they fit together.
