After looking at all the nice shiny 601xl s on the web I have to ask .
Do you polish under the Fuzz and wings ? and how do you polish right up to the
edge of a painted area?
How much does the paint weight on the outside on a decent paint job?
. Like the idea of less cost and weight too but the thought of having to grovel
on the ground polishing under neath does not float my boat.
Thanks
Kevin

masking tape will protect the paint to polish next to it.
My Cessna 150 POH lists paint at 16lbs. so you can probably figure about 14
for an XL with average amount of trim paint (that being a second coat in
those areas).

Hi Kevin,
After 2 years of flying bare aluminum, the paint on my 601HDS came to a
total of 14 lbs.
I did W&B before and right after painting with no exposed aluminum left
to polish.
I can also fully appreciate the prospective "joy" of polishing upside
down and around color trim paint.
Painting is a big chore, but decidedly worth it no matter what kind you use.
That's a 4 year perspective, twice a year, just spray off the dust and
wipe dry.
Bugs seem to come off paint much easier too with just a little cleaner.
Good luck,
Larry McFarland 601HDS at www.macsmachine.com
