Anyone that has interest, I'd be willing to trade, barter, whatever, I just need the room in the garage! Again the engine is already sold so it's just the plane. I have plans #6847, and all the parts minus wing skins and flap skins. rudder, elevator, horizontal stab, ailerons, main spars built. This was a TD version with dual sticks... v/r, Jud Rupert 301-994-0630 (home) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=230858#230858 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:11:53 PM PST US From: "Steve Sims" Subject: Zenith601-List: Prepping for primer I was told by a local paint supplier that I should spray vinegar on the aluminum and then rinse it off with water prior to spraying self etching primer on it. He said that is what they do on boats. Has anyone ever heard this? Good / bad? I have no idea if it would work but that is what he is trying to do with the vinegar. -------- W.R. Old sign maker taught me that =2Cbut i use alodine and metal prep. I think you are r ight comparing that to acid prep.It cleans off coatings and grease=2C if so mething isn't done it will peel more often. > From: zenoah@mchsi.com > To: zenith601-list@matronics.com > Subject: Zenith601-List: Prepping for primer > Date: Wed=2C 18 Feb 2009 18:11:04 -0600 > > > I was told by a local paint supplier that I should spray vinegar on the > aluminum and then rinse it off with water prior to spraying self etching > primer on it. That is why we use zinc or inert epoxy primers. I found a body shop supplier that sells Sherin Williams auto paint they had a spot putty with titanium base. I was made for aluminum. A little pricy but better working that the other s tuff. Definitly wear masks when sanding any products.
