    Subject: horizontal stab question
Nutters, er Netters! I have been trying to get my horizontal stab skeleton put together so I can get it skinned. I noticed something on a few of my ribs and was curious to see if any other builders have seen this with their tails. Where the ribs (6T1-2) meet the rear spar (6T1-4) there should be a tangent transition from the rib to the spar. When I align the rib on the spar as best I can there is no way to make the top curve of the rib gracefully transition to the spar. There is something on the order of 6mm height difference between the rib and spar. Has anyone seen this? I have a picture that would better describe the issue but it's a little fuzzy. http://www.steensland.net/pics/far.png If so, how did you deal with it? -- Lee Steensland 601XL/Corvair (7637L reserved) Kit/Scratch builder 0.0% complete!

Lee, I'm afraid your picture is fuzzier than your words... If you are talking about a *horizontal* gap, that's not an issue (this seems to be the case, I see a ruler in the horizontal position). If it is vertical, then it is another story... Good luck Carlos CH601-HD, plans Montreal, Canada 2009/3/17 Lee Steensland <zenith-list@steensland.net> > zenith-list@steensland.net> > > Nutters, er Netters! > > I have been trying to get my horizontal stab skeleton put together so I can > get it skinned. I just uploaded a better picture (I took it from the zenith construction guidelines). The huge black line shows that the top surface of the rib should be flush with the top of the spar. I get about a 6mm height difference on 3 of my ribs. www.steensland.net/pics/edge.jpg Carlos Sa wrote: > Lee, I'm afraid your picture is fuzzier than your words... > > If you are talking about a *horizontal* gap, that's not an issue (this > seems to be the case, I see a ruler in the horizontal position). Lee, Unless I am seeing things wrong, I see your problem. If this photo shows the top of the stabilizer, you have the rear spar upside down.? The upper flange of the rear spar should project rearward to provide a fastening for the elevator hinge.? The lower spar flange projects forward.
