Can anyone help?
I downloaded a sample logbook entry for an annual inspection. Short and
complete but can't find it now or the original source.
Anyone have a copy?

Mark,
The chain breaker acts much like a C clamp by holding both surfaces togeth
er. I found no need to drill more deeply than it takes to remove the fact
ory head.

The chain breaker may work but one needs to relief the pressure of the riv
et.
I drilled the -6 rivets out with a #20 (1/8 inch) drill almost all the way
through. I found that one has to at least have the drill tip go up to the
"shop
head". I then used a 1/8 punch with a 2X air hammer set at a low pressure.
The few times the shop head came off, I was able to drive the whole remain
ing
rivet body out with a 3/16 punch.
Keeping all the pieces tight while doing this also helps and reduces the
strain
on any one piece of metal.

Sabrina,
Strain gages usually require input current in the milliamp range and output millivolts
so I am not sure a Dynon is the best excitation source and data recording
system. Of course, a portable dynamic (AC) data system like EDAS would be
better than a DC system any day. It is what we use at the big jet motor factory.
I have not researched it and you probably have so I would be interested in your
set-up. I would also be interested in what spots you choose for the gages.

No, but I can give you the entry I make when I do an annual:
"This aircraft has been inspected in accordance with the requirements for an
annual inspection, and has been found to be in an airworthy condition.
(signature)
(printed name)
(certificate number)"
This, or some variant thereof, is what I've seen over, and over. Remember,
they have a much harder time hanging you for words you don't put in a logbook.
It's the words you put it that can get you. Short and sweet is usually good.

Bill,
Make sure you clamp the spar cap together as you try and remove the rivets.
If not the caps will separate and lock the rivet as you try and remove it.

This uses the same cabin parts as the 601/650. And I think the same spar.
Zenith should try and stop the sale's of this plane unless they have been
paid for the use of the design.

Are you talking certified or experimental? We do not do "annuals" on experimental
airplanes, we do "condition inspections." If experimental, your operating
limitations will give you the exact verbiage to use. Mine tells me to write
"I certify that this aircraft has been inspected on (insert date) in accordance
with the scope and detail of appendix "D" to FAR Part 43 and found to be in
condition for safe operation."
Hope this helps,

Technically, you are correct. Change the word "annual" to "condition" in my
blurb, or use the words you propose. If the FAA has approved documentation for
any aircraft, it normally supersedes all other documentation.
The appendix you cite is also the one normally used when doing an annual on an
aircraft for which no type certificate exists.

I assume you mean the annual condition inspection logbook entry for an Experimental
Amateur Built aircraft:
I certify that this aircraft has been inspected on [date] in accordance with
the scope and detail of appendix D to part 43, and was found to be in a condition
for safe operation.
The entry will include the aircrafts total time-in-service, and the name, signature,
certificate number, and type of certificate held by the person performing
the inspection.
The above entry is required by the Operating Limitations, you should find it stated
there.

Remove the nose skin.
Remove the rivet head.
Drill a 3/32 pilot head about 2/3 way through.
Drill it out to 1/8.
Stand the wing up on it's nose on 2 sawhorses.
Cut a 2X4 that will reach from the floor up to the bottom of the spar.
Drill a 3/8" hole in the end of the 2X4 a couple of inches deep.
Place the 2X4 with the hole over the head of the rivet you wish to remove.
It will now drive out easily with a 1/8 punch and hammer.
This worked really well for me. The hammer blows go down through the 2X4 and not
out into the wing. It is also a one person job this way.
