Subject: | Counter balance snag in the LAA drawings |
I have just finished installing the counter balance upgrade and the LAA
measurements will not work as printed. If you lay out the new ribs to the
327.3 the counter balance weights will not clear the lower wingtip and will
hang out of the wingtip if you install the weights on the outboard side of the
square tube.
The plans don't show this but the fix is either move the ribs 200 mm
inboard or making the ribs 90 degrees of the hinge line.
for those of you that have already rivited them as to the drawings you
will have to install all but one of your weights inboard and one of the thin
weights outboard to keep the tube from crushing.
Have Fun

Can someone who has received the upgrade kit tell me how long the
longest package is?
I want to go pick up my kit but would like to take the car rather
than the truck if possible.
Thanks,
Steve

Hey All,=0A=0AThe upgrade kit instructions specifically warn against using
a drill-bit on the spar-connection bolt holes but to-ream to final si

- Does it matter? What type should I get? etc. etc. etc. etc.- Any advi

the specific sizes for the AN3,-AN4-and-AN5 holes.=0A=0AThanks in adv

Bill,
There are undoubtedly folks on this list who are better machinists than
I am, but I can tell you that when I had to make new splice plates for
my 601HD, I got all the tools - drills, collets, reamers - from Travers
Tool Co. 1-800-221-0270. I still have the reamers for the AN5 and AN6
holes. The part number for the AN6 reamer is 04-006-024. The one for
the AN5 is badly faded, but I think it's 04-006-020. Hope this helps.

Subject: | Re: 601XL Canopy |
I went with 60# on the standard canopy. McMaster. Cut both arms shorter ( to
avoid front edge of canopy touching front skin when open).
Works great!
