Jay,
don't let it bother you!
I find that, as senility advances, things can only get better. I no
longer waste time looking for things that I have put in a 'safe place',
because I've forgotten that I had them in the first place.
Cheer up - it's an 'age' thing!!

Karl,
I used "dots" of PolyZap spaced about 4 to 6 inches apart along the
length of the seal; and only on the part of the seal that would touch
the outside face of the canopy bubble. That should make it removable
with a razor blade sometime in the future.
A funny thing happened on the way to this installation. I cut the
rubber strips to length, then laid them aside. After I completed the
canopy assembly, I started looking for those strips. I turned my work
space upside down and inside out and couldn't find them. After a few
days of searching, I gave up and ordered replacements from ZAC. After I
had the new ones installed, I was telling my son about losing the
original ones. He was standing beside my lawnmower. He laid his hand
on the lawnmower handle and asked "Were they like these ?" Sure enough,
there were the originals, "hiding" in plain sight (except to me ! )
draped over the lawnmower handle.

Remember that you will eventually have to replace that piece of rubber
-- don't make it impossible.

Has anyone made the 3.25 inch hole in the canopy for snap in air vents?
I would like to know what is the best method to use to do this given
that one can not do it in a drill press. The plastic is under a slight
stress so the idea of using a normal hole saw seems a bit risky. I worry
about a crack forming in the plastic and quickly growing.

Mark,
I used a drill bit made for acrylics and drilled a 1/4" hole in the center
. Then I used a Dremel with a small spiral drum cutter, with the Dremel
mounted on their device made to cut circles and cut to the finish line.
I had tried to cut a circle with the Dremel just hand held on a scrap an
d it didn't go so good. The Dremel circle cutter device made it a piece
of cake. I went really slow to keep the melting to a minimum, but still
had to sandpaper a little bit to get a real smooth hole.
Hope; this helps - Jay Bannister

I watched Doug Dugger at Quality Sport Planes cut the hole in his 601XL
canopy. He did it by manually turning a hand-held fly cutter. As I recall he
used WD-40 as a lubricant. It might help to cut from both sides, I can't
recall.

Rich Vetterli did his by using a hole saw, turned by hand from both sides, centered
on a .25" hole from a plexi drill. It took awhile, but it did turn out nicely,
and there were no cracks.
