The Dynon unit comes with extensive instructions which talk all about this and other installation issues. The wires were high up on the side of the fuselage, but still affected the compass. Discovered that when I turned on the nav lights the compass swung 10 degrees. Had to run both a hot and a ground twisted pair to the tail nav light.....Fred Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=311934#311934 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 02:31:40 PM PST US From: BobbyPaulk@comcast.net Subject: Zenith601-List: Re: Zenith601-List Digest: 4 Msgs - 09/08/10 Kevin, I had trouble with mine due to one rudder cable being magnetized. I tried de-gauzing it but the compass would swing over 100 deg. setting still on the ground and moving the rudder. I have the DEK - 180. I finally mounted the remote on the back side of the baggage compartment and it is now the most accurate compass I have ever flown behind. hope this helps, Bobby Jacksonville, FL DO NOT ARCHIVE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message zenith601-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Zenith601-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/zenith601-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/zenith601-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
