Can I expect the empty CG to be more forward, aft or the same compared to a comparable equipped nosewheel CH601/650? I can probably calculate the difference if I had accurate weight numbers for the nosewheel assembly. I would assume the same weight for the mains, just a different moment arm. Any info will be greatly appreciated! -------- Dale Flying Cessna 170B Building Zenith CH650 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=354080#354080 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:08:00 AM PST US From: JohnDRead@aol.com Subject: Re: Zenith601-List: Taildragger CG The CG has nothing to do with wether an aircraft is a tail dragger or a nose wheel type. do not archive Regards, John CH701 - Colorado - Jabiru 3300 Cell: 719-494-4567 Home: 303-648-3261 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 09:38:56 AM PST US From: "Craig Payne" Subject: RE: Zenith601-List: Taildragger CG You don't think that moving the 40+ pound main gear forward a foot and eliminating the nose gear would influence the CG? -- Craig From: owner-zenith601-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-zenith601-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of JohnDRead@aol.com Sent: Wednesday, October 05, 2011 8:05 AM Subject: Re: Zenith601-List: Taildragger CG The CG has nothing to do with wether an aircraft is a tail dragger or a nose wheel type. do not archive Regards, John CH701 - Colorado - Jabiru 3300 Cell: 719-494-4567 Home: 303-648-3261 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 02:05:25 PM PST US From: Jerry Subject: RE: Zenith601-List: Taildragger CG You're also moving the main gear forward and adding a tail wheel with a long moment arm, which should offset the affects of removing the nosewheel. The CG has to stay within the design range, certainly moving or removing heavy pieces will affect the ba lance of the aircraft. You will have to do what ever is necessary to bring the C G into design range. The Zenith factory could give you guidance in this area. do not archive.
