The cable to the magnetic sensor is a computer style digital connection with good shielding. I think there is a small processor in the magnetic unit. I have not seen any strange behavior on mine, and the wires are all bundled together going to the rear of the cockpit. Paul XL 20 hours into flight testing. I suppose it might be nice as a conversation piece with your passenger, but for navigation purposes the GPS seems to do just fine at "Computing" ground speed. You don't want the probe to be hit with direct sun light. In your case I guess it depends on how far in the cabin air intake system you put it. If it is far enough away from the air input to avoid sun light then perhaps it would not work at all if you close off the cabin air flow - as I have done for winter operations. Mine is under the fiberglass saddle on the tail. It is in the open air and still not in direct sunlight. That works well too but the wires are longer. Any issues with that location Chris Chris, I installed mine in the Rt. cabin air intake duct. Works fine. I filled the end of the tube with flox, and drilled a hole in the front of the tube, so that the free airstream could get to the probe. I think the cabin air vent would work nice too. -nick On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 9:36 PM, wrote: > > > -----Original Message----- > From: chris Sinfield > To: zenith601-list > Sent: Sat, Oct 29, 2011 12:49 am > Subject: Zenith601-List: Dynon OAT probe location > > > Hi all > I was going to put the Dynon OAT probe in the LH cabin air intake . > Any issues with that location > Chris > > > Chris, > > I installed mine in the Rt. cabin air intake duct.
