Howdy, Just received my fuel senders today. The plan shows them mounted in the side of the tank and then bending the sender arm into a "Z" shape. Looking at the "B" upgrade stuff, I see the factory plane has the sender mounted on top. I've never seen a plan for doing that. So.... are there opinions on which is better to do and is documentation available for the top mount? Seems like that might be less prone to leak. Thanks, Steve Steve Look Monticello, IL 601XL "Dogs have owners, Cats have staff"

Steve, I mounted the senders on my XL on top of the fuel tanks. They work fine. I would be concerned about leaks mounting on the side of the tank. I have heard some owners worry about tank leaks from senders that are a problem even on top of the tank. There is no easy way to isolate and repair these since the skin is riveted over the tank. I am taking the chance, but I've heard some people installed inspection ports over the sender for possible repairs.
