Tim,
I ran my plane at 1,000' with out the wheel pants then landed. I installed the
wheel pants and went back up to 1,000' and used the same power setting.
With wheel pants I got about 5 ~ 7 MPH faster than without. This would be at the
upper end of cruise power. and indicating 135 MPH. I would lean more to the
5 MPH since it was not in real smooth air. Another thing is that CHT's run about
8 ~ 10 deg. lower with wheel pants on. I attribute this to buffeting around
the nose wheel being eliminated by the pants.

Subject: | Fuel Tank Filler |
I'm about ready to weld up my fuel tanks. I have this type of filler:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/fuelFlange.php?clickkey=45351
Should this be welded to the inside of the tank or dropped through from the top
and welded?
I know some have had issues getting the right spacing on the nose skin and wanted
to ask before I welded.
Thanks in advance,
Randy B.

Very interesting, especially the observation regarding the effect on CHT's.
Thanks!
