I had the same problem as you describe. I purchased a new starter from Camit while
they were around - not sure it's still Bosch. I was told that the bolts holding
the motor to the aluminum adapter would loosen causing the problem. Checking
the bolts is now on my inspection list. I put lock nuts and witness paint
on them to keep the problem from happening again.
