From the photographs, I see that the fuel float assy. is not installed. The hole was done with a 1 5/8 Dewalt hole drill cut off remover. This plate is done with a square piece (3 x 3 inches) with a 0.125 piece of 6061-T6 welded to the tank skin. See photographies attached. You should do hole with tread with a left hand tap tool.
