I'd love to keep up with your progress. I hear rotary engines are more efficient since the parts move continuously instead of stopping and reversing direction. How heavy are we talking? And is this an auto conversion? Fixed pitch or constant speed? Sorry I'm berating you with questions, but you've now tweaked my interest, and I can't stop thinking of the possibilities! -------- Mark s/n 094 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=299988#299988 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:28:27 AM PST US Subject: Zenith640-List: Re: CAD disk and new Photos From: "pilot4pay" super58d wrote: > That thing looks and sounds great Craig! I'd love to keep up with your progress. I hear rotary engines are more efficient since the parts move continuously instead of stopping and reversing direction. It's not better efficiency, but reliability, fewer moving parts, no valves, significantly higher TBO. BSFC is slightly higher by about 5%, but you can burn auto-gas, big savings.
How heavy are we talking?
With lightweight aluminum end housings, I'm figuring installed FWF of 275lbs. That's including rad, cooling and accessories.
And is this an auto conversion?
Yes.
Fixed pitch or constant speed?
One can go either route, but my plan is to go with a vari-prop constant speed unit to maximize performance and efficiency. Of course there is a lot more labor involved, as it is an auto conversion, and requires a lot of custom built stuff. But the results I believe will make up for the expended effort. -------- Craig Smith CH640 builder SN: 0078 "Just think how stupid the average person is, and then realize that half of them are even stupider!" --George Carlin Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=299993#299993 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message zenith640-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Zenith640-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/zenith640-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/zenith640-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
