What have you used (or seen in use) for sealing between two areas: (1) the canopy
front edge to the forward top skin, and (2) between the two rear "hoops" in
addition to the flashing?

Larry,
I've seen one HD with just a trim strip on the fuselage forward top skin
that provided a good fit and cushion for the bare edge of the canopy. I
used the typical 3/4-inch
rubber edge with a slot for the canopy and glued it a drop at a time
1-inch spacing with crazy glue to keep the stuff inside the slot. Both
these systems work well.
Neither needed the flashing with such a good fit between canopy and skin.
