Grr. Not only are the 801 manual's poor at best, BUT I'm starting to discover that the binders I got from Zenith are lacking entire sections which are on the website. The good thing is the website exists and I can look there when in doubt. Now what would inspire somebody to design .063 6061 seat belt mounts is beyond me, particularly with the grain oriented the wrong way. Nice thing I got a sheet of 4130 to make replacements from, and can tie to the longerons with a few AN-3 bolts in addition to solids the rest of the way. I think Chris is an okay designer, but he sure applies his minimal approach to a few more things than I like. Got that out, back to building. Jeff. Subject: Fuel Levels
One problem with capacitive probes is that they are sensitive to the composition of the fuel. You will get different reading with 100LL vs. car gas. I suspect that different ethanol blends will give different readings but I don't know how much. I recall being told by the instrument maker MGL in South Africa that they don't use capacitive probes because the composition of auto gas there is inconsistent enough to cause significant errors. -- Craig -----Original Message----- From: owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of dj45 Sent: Monday, May 12, 2008 5:40 AM Subject: Zenith701801-List: Fuel Levels Can anyone explain the pros and cons of CAPACITIVE FUEL PROBES vs. RESISTANCE (float type)? Not real happy with the readings we are getting with the float type now. Have the Zenith suppled floats and Dynon EFIS. I have re-calibrated the gages twice and still getting junk readings. -------- Do not archive Dan Stanton N9801S 99.9% Done and Flying 701-40% done Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=182646#182646
