See http://www.deltahawkengines.com/ for some details. My reasons: 1. fuel availability 2. As I've examined this engine I've been favorably impressed with the design for use in light aircraft. It's 2-stroke, piston-ported, therefore no valves to deal with, EVER. The 2-stroke design somewhat mitigates one of the problems of diesel aircraft engines, vibration. The frequency is twice what a 4-stroke has, so while the amplitude might not be less, the critical speed might be high enough to be inconsequential. 3. And, of course, no sparkplugs! I live in Racine, WI and have run into the owners of DeltaHawk on several occasions (nice people, by the way). It seems they are always 6 months from production and have been at that point for the past several years. I'd be very interested in the diesel as well for the same reasons you pointed out. I'm just not sure about availability. On another note, since you're planning on diesel, have you made any modifications to your fuel system? I do like diesel engines too. Is this engine readily available? Bob Spudis N701ZX/CH701/912S I'm building a CH801 and am planning on using a DeltaHawk diesel.
