I would not attempt or enjoy operating the 701 in the exact same conditions of wind that the heavier aircraft are OK in, and there were many days when the Cessna was too small for the conditions prevailing. Both being high wing aircraft, the degree of difficulty taxying is a good indication of whether its better to stay in the hangar. Usually enjoy the flight better in sunny calm days, anyway. We are being lead to believe that the plans will also be offered, but no one knows for sure. Amy took the girls shopping. So anyway I just received the Canyon Surfing DVD. It is very good. I like the secondary , raw footage and the section that he shows stalls and cruise ect... The plans are pretty light in this area and I don't see anything in the photo guide. The plans indicate that the Lexan is just riveted to the cabin frame. Will it crack? What about the rivets through the top longeron gusset 7F3-3SP (what does the "SP" suffix mean anyway?). Do those rivets pass through the Lexan and the gusset (unlikely) or does the window just rest on top of the rivets in this area? -- Craig ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 05:11:15 PM PST US Subject: Zenith701801-List: Re: CH801 fuel header tank From: "bcchurch" Jeff, I just started working on my 801 a couple months ago and so I'm quite a ways away from the fuel system - but I've thought of a header tank as well. Would you mind sharing your current plans for your fuel system? Are you going with standard or extended range tanks? Are you going to use the fuel lines that came with your kit or something else? Fuel return lines? If you did use a header tank, where would you locate the tank? Just curious... Acrylic will crack when most inconvenient to you however.. They are not the same.....FYI. .. I was so confused about the two different door instructions they were talking about I finally called Caleb at Zenair. I have the all lexan door (a third type door) and I found there were no plans for that door. If you have the same one, call me and I think I can explain what to do as we did about 90% of the pilot side door today. If you have the door with the metal bottom I can explain which plans you have to follow. Your questions: The Lexan will not crack. I used a 3/32" bit first and then expanded it to 3/16" with a bit designed for plexiglass work. Try it on a piece of scrap first. I used the scrap from what I had to cut off the top of the door. If you have more questions send me a message at and I will respond.
