When I installed my Lexan top, I tried to score the edge and snap it over the side
of my table. When it snapped, it broke and did not follow the line. I had
to buy another piece ($75.00) from a local source.
The second piece was cut with a cut off wheel and filed smooth.

Subject: | Re: Installing cabin top plastic |
I just installed my top window. A couple tips I've learned:
Aircraft Spruce sells a special drill bit for Lexan and Plexiglass. Here's the
link:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/mepages/plexidrill.php
I've used the 1/8" bit to start and enlarged using a #1 step drill bit (unibit)
when necessary. As long as you don't force it, it works great!
For cutting Lexan, I try cutting it like drywall. Hold a straight edge along your
cut, score it a few times using a utility knife, and then gently fold it along
the cut line. A little filing may be necessary, but it works well and leaves
a straight edge.
Regarding riveting, I did rivet the top window to the top longeron gusset, 7F3-3SP.
I think it was only one rivet drilled. It leads to a nice transition from
the top tube to the top fuselage skin.
BTW - the 'SP' stands for 'sport pilot'. Before the 'SP' parts, the CH701 was
limited to a Max t/o weight of 960 pounds. With the addition of heavier and/or
thicker parts in critical structural areas, ZAC increased the weight to 1100
pounds.

That's pretty nice! Do you know what the planned engine is? Is it still a Rotax,
or do you need something bigger?

FWIW the firewall outline is the same as the 601. So (by intention) any
firewall package for the 601 will work on the 750.

When I was up to the rudder workshop in May '07, I saw an O-200 on
what looked at first glance like a 701 fuselage but just a little
bigger. Someone told me it was a CH750.

I would recommend to anyone sitting on the fence. Cant wait till the others

Subject: | Found a Used Rotax source |
I found a used rotax 912 source, and thought I'd share it. This guy gets ex military
engines rebuilds them and adds fuel injection. I spoke to him briefly,
seems pretty straight up. Anyway, no affiliation just thought I'd pass it around.
From what I can discern, the resulting engines are all 100hp. Turbos are available
too.

Yup I watched it to day too, made the same part 3 times so I felt the need for
a little inspiration!!!! 'It is the on;y good source for what the heck can this
this do, that I've seen. The factory clips are pretty safe, and short. I hope
that they give Desmond a REALLY good discount on parts ect.. because he is
selling their airplane for them.

Subject: | Re: CH801 fuel header tank |
Four tanks, probably run the four feeds down to a header, via selector
valves. Then run the header vent to the tank with the return fitting in it.
>From the header to the engine driven pump via a boost pump and a fuel
shutoff valve, then a return from the engine driven pump to the header
through a check valve. Same configuration I have in my Kitfox with my
IO-240B which is injected.
The location and size of the header tank are the main issue right now.
I personally do not like systems without a header. The Fox for example
with a low fuel load can unport the fuel feeds in the rear of the tank in a
steep descent causing an engine out. I have a header fuel low sensor
(optical) which indicates the header is getting air. Which serves as
a warning that the header has lost its feed.
When I get it figured out I'll post what I plan to do.
By the way I'm in Arlington Heights, Illinois and home based at
Schaumburg (06C)
