Chris,=0AThank you for the pix. Did anyone talk about the performance figur
es? I know it is LSA compliant or is meant to be, and that it is built to h

same with the same STOL performance?=0A-=0ABobefx=0A=0A=0A----- Original

Careful, the plans (for the 701, at least) call for 3/4 x 3/4 angle. Using 1
x 1 would likely create clearance issues with the rear ribs.

I didn't see the previous discussion, but as a current air traffic controller,
I want to hear "...Experimental Zenair [callsign]..." on initial contact. If
I need further clarification on what you are, I'd want you to compare it to something
I know performance-wise, like "similar to a piper cub".
This helps us plan when it comes to pattern entry and spacing/sequencing to the
runway. A Lancair and a CH701 are both experimentals, but I'm going to work
them very differently.
When it comes to flight plan filing, HXA/[equipment code] should be used (for the
701 at least) as the type aircraft/equimpent suffix. In the remarks you might
optionally indicate typ a/c Zenair CH701.

Chris-
Please do come by our booth at the show I would be very interested in talking to
you about your 701 Mods and Corvair installations.
I am always interested in what others are up to!
We will be running our 701 rear starter FWF in a few days.
we will have it running at the show. along with a plethora of other products.
I am looking forward to seeing the Zenith booth this year too! I hope they will
have the prototype there.
Take care I have to get back into the shop!

I heard Sebastian say that it can be built as a 1320# LSA or up to #1450 as an
Experimental Amateur built.
They had no posted spec's yet, but I don't expect much if any improvements on speed,
though, although it's likely to have strut fairings standard.

If you built it for the larger gross, then it probably could by flown as an
LSA with floats and a 1420 gross weight.

So here in sunny Colorado, it's getting into the 80's.
Anybody devised a shade for the roof? I was thinking about just tinting it by
20%. But I think I would prefer some sort of retractable shade.
This would also help with interior temp while it's parked etc...
Thanks guys,

So after pushing the 801 back into her spot the last two days I have decided a
tow bar would be nice.
I sized a tow bar off a Cessna 172 it fits the nose gear tubing just right.
I was thinking of welding two stubs on either side to grab onto.
Has anyone else done something similar or different?

Subject: | Autopilot in a 701? |
Has anyone ever installed an autopilot in their 701 (or 801). I have a Trio
Avionics unit left over from my 601 and am thinking of installing it as I
finish my 701. As I see it due to the way the y-stick/flap-lever mixer works
you would have mount the servo on the flaperon control mount 7C3-1 so that
moving the flap level would not move the flaperon linkage relative to the
servo.

I altered my 801 by ditching the factory clear glazing and used a medium
tint plexiglass. it seems to stay somewhat kool in the sun.
