Good morning. I am ready to design and fab an engine mount for a Geo G10 in my 701. Can anyone give me the cg location and weight of a Rotax (as installed in a 701)? Thanks. John F. Schaefer, Sr. N701NM

Thanks Craig. I did get some very useful information from one of the list readers. Since he sent it to me direct, I wasn't going to mention it online. His info included pictures, etc. But, I do thank you for that piece of data about the 3-1 length-width ration. I will use that in fabricating my fairings. The list is good and I do appreciate Matt Draile letting us have our own place to post. Tommy Walker in Alabama N8701 71.3 Hours First Annual Due this month.

Tommy I faired my struts with 016 as you are planning. Made a big difference. It was also a surprising amount of work(as usual), took several days off and on. I made a fixture for shaping the 016, it doesn't really like to bend in a proper leading edge radius, as I am sure you already know. I made them up in 4 foot "blanks" and then cut to fit. That put a joint about in the middle. I put one pop rivet at each end and the jury strut bolt holds it in the middle. The blanks were 8" wide before bending mostly because that works out for a 2x4 sheet of material and gets somewhere around the 3 to 1 ratio somebody mentioned but I wasn't too concerned about that. You aren't too far from my place...I think this fixture might fit in a 701 if you want to come borrow it. It took a little while to build it. Joe

A few scratch built CH 701 in Australia use streamline Alloy as used on the Lightwing seems to work well. I will be using same when I get to that stage.
