Subject: | Best Insurance deal |
I'm certain this has been discussed before, but I could use some current
advice about aircraft insurance for my 701.
My all risks insurance with Falcon runs out this month and I need to renew
it. Before doing so it would be nice to know if anyone has found a better
deal. I live in California and currently pay $2.150./year for $50,000. all
risks (like auto collision) and $1-million liability. I have a total of 500
flying hours including 110 in my Zenith 701.
If anyone knows where I can find a better deal, pls let me know who to call.
Rgds,
Les

Hi Les,
I've a 601HDS, 3rd year flying and 125 hrs aircraft and 450 hrs pilot
for $35K hull full coverage.
I did find that you can purchase full flight, liability only, and hangar
& taxi (non-flying) insurance or any combination
thereof. AIG said if I had 300 hours on my aircraft, insurance would
cost less, progressing toward that direction each year.
There are a lot of factors involved of course, but I'm at $1400.00 this
year, down $100.00 from last at 50 hours.
For your' aircraft, if you've no money owed on it, I'd consider lowering
the hull value to $30K and keep insurance on it with
the knowledge that you'd probably only prang a wing, a gear or a prop
with any real careful flying.
I priced AIG from several representatives, St Louis, Texas, etc. and
went with the lowest price from Ankeny, Iowa.
Good luck,,

Subject: | Electrical system |
Back to you folks,
Ready to wire up mu CH 701 with a Rotax 912 ULS. Simple system, ignition,
electric trim, battery, no lite or radios. Have the Rotax drawings but
that's as far as I've been able to nail down
Who has a system diagram showing what I need to do - as usual have
preconceived ideas but always open to suggestions.

Thanks for response Kevin, the remakes are anticipated (and cheap) as well
as the fun.- The fluting pliers were borrowed.- I used them to get the
material trained then I used the slots in the form block for the remainder.
- Need to weld up my own as the needle nose type.- Thanks for the feedb
ack and vote of confidence, looking forward to the challenge of the stab ti
ps...for now.

Looks pretty good, the plans are not clear on a number of things like this,
while being crystal clear on other things of the same type. Careful of maki

sharp radii, cracks and the dents made by the fluting pliers. I had way mor

trouble with the stab tips then the rudder tip and it was due to exactly wh

you are saying.
Good Luck and remember this is pretty cheap fun building an airplane from
scratch, so don't worry about a few remakes!
