Subject: | Re: CH701, C-85 Prop Size |
This will give you a general idea.
http://www.culverprops.com/pitchselection.htm
As for the O-200 it is pretty much comparable to the Corvair and here is what
Mr. Whynne said about the Corvair and slow air plane props. Remember it was for
a Corvair and is a general statement.
"We recently thrust tested a 72" Warp Drive on a Corvair without a cowling, and
with a cast iron exhaust and big muffler in place. It pulled 385 pounds of thrust
at 2700rpm at a pitch which would yield a cruise speed of 85 or 90mph, with
a redline of 105 or 110. With a cowl and a flight exhaust, it would be 425
pounds or so. This combo would produce good average thrust over a wide range of
airspeeds. "
You can back calculate the pitch at the above link. Not perfect but its at least
from people who knows props and direct drive engines.

Subject: | Prop Pitch calculator |
Here is an Excel spreadsheet (Prop Pitch Speed calculator) I made up from the prop
web sites. Use it along with Culver's Prop page and it will get you really
close to actual flying numbers. After talking with a few guys flying different
props, I put their information in and it comes close to what they are getting
in the air. Use it if you want.

Tommy I should re state that. It is the Zenith FWF mount that attaches to the ring
mount. The two upper arms do not allow for the heater box to sit down and
align with the carbs. I don't think there is any way to modify it to fit.
If anyone knows a mod to make it work? With the bed mount the upper arms are at
sharper angle and allow for the installation.

Mike did you take a look at the pictures Craig uploaded about modifying the air
box? I wonder if that would work in getting it to fit?

Nice brake.
I've been looking around for one that I could use/borrow. Turns out my son
is taking a welding class at a local high school and they have one. Made
friends with the teacher and he let me use it. Cost me a dozen donuts.
Welcomed me back any time.

For my Christmas present, take a look at the new 8' brake that I just got...
eh you might want to make that bought.
Made by Brown Boggs, it had just been refurbished with new pins. The only
thing I was obliged to do, was to round off the blade so that I can get the
1/8" radius bends on aluminum.
