What length Warp drive prop is used on the 701/912 UL? I've looked in my information and have not found the prop length listed anywhere(could just be me being dense). I'm pretty much ready to order my prop but want to get the right length blades. Doug MacDonald CH-701 Scratch Builder NW Ontario, Canada Do Not Archive

=?iso-8859-1?Q?=3F=3F=3F? Doug, when I went and tried the 701 in Kitchener (Tom Mills ??) 3 years ago , he had a 72" warp drive prop on it (wheels). I noticed he was very carefu ll not to travel on the grass since it had a couple inches of snow on the g round. I visited another one in the Montreal area, the man had a 701 on a grass st rip. He also had a 72" and I recall seeing some grass stains on the tip of the blades. >From then on, my decision was made not to exceed 70" if on wheels or skis. Of course being on floats does not pause this problem as you have much more clearance. - Just my opinion Jean-Paul Roy --- En date de-: Ven, 30.1.09, MacDonald Doug <dougsnash@yahoo.com> a =E9 crit-: De: MacDonald Doug <dougsnash@yahoo.com> Objet: Zenith701801-List: Warp drive prop length??? =C0: "701 list" <zenith701801-list@matronics.com> <dougsnash@yahoo.com> What length Warp drive prop is used on the 701/912 UL? What length Warp drive prop is used on the 701/912 UL?............... When I ordered my 701 kit, I ordered the fwf for a 912 uls 100hp. This came with a 70" 3 blade Warp Drive prop. A couple of years later I decided on a 912 ul 80hp due to prices increasing. I called Zenith and asked if the 70" was still OK to use. They recommended 68". I called Warp Drive and they said 68" is what is used. I sent the blades back and they trimmed them down to 68" balanced and painted my leading edges for $5 a blade. Brian http://www.701builder.com

=?iso-8859-1?Q?ive_prop_length=3F=3F=3F? Doug, you are looking between 68-72 inches. Measure from your prop flange down and pick the prop that allows at lease 8 inch clearance to the ground. I have just ordered a 72 inch GSC for my 701. Mark Townsend Alma, Ontario Zodiac CH650 C-GOXL, CH701 Rotax 912, STOL CH750 Just started www.ch601.org / www.ch701.com/ www.Osprey2.com

Doug, I ground down my 70" Warp drive prop on a dirt rut and had to get it refinished ($300). I am told than when I rev up with breaks on for a short take-off the blades drop to within a few inches of the ground, but the size seems to work well in flight with my 100-HP Rotax. Subject: 80 HP Rotax for sale
    From: george.mueller@aurora.org
I originally installed the 912UL in my 701 for a variety of reasons: 1) I don't like to cruise too far into the yellow arc; 2) easier starting and less shaking; 3) lower price; 4) somewhat higher reliability, less high strung than the high compression 912ULS; etc. However I am now thinking about putting my 701 on floats which is the only real argument, in my opinion, for the 100hp engine. Thus I would like to see if anyone on this list is interested in buying my Rotax 912UL. If you are interested, you could come to Milwaukee, fly in the 701, do a compression check and help me take the engine off the airplane. Put it in your trunk and away you go. Or, I could take it to Leading Edge Airfoils (LEAF), a authorized Rotax dealer, and have them go through it and ship it to you from there. They are about 40 minutes away from where my 701 is hangered. This engine has been operated strictly by the book from day one, oil changes every 25 hours, carbs synched, no 100LL ever, etc. and has never hiccuped in the 55 hours I have flown it. Temps, pressures, have never been out of the green, ever. I would like to get $16K for it as it only has 55 hours since new on a 1500 tbo. If you are interested email me off line at george.mueller@aurora.org George in Milwaukee N701GM 55hours flying

=?iso-8859-1?Q?=3A_Warp_drive_prop_length=3F? Even with a 68" prop,- we need to be very carefull, when landing and fast taxing in dirt or unimproved (sp?)- grass strips,-where little-water drains (dont know the word in english, sorry, "micro" rivers, hope you got the idea), --the travel of the bungee, and the low pressure in the fro nt wheel (compressed in a bump) -will let the prop hit the ground if not carefull at taxi...-- - Just messure-the distance from the top of the gear post to the inverted " V" of the engine mount, and add 1 or 2 inches of wheel compressed in the "i maginary" -bump.- then messure your prop tip (engine stoped, keys OFF t he switch, please:-)- to the floor of the hangar...-- - "Drive Carefully"- sorry...- "Taxi Carefully"- :-) - Saludos Gary Gower Flying from Chapala, Mexico 701 912S- 240 hrs and counting. --- On Fri, 1/30/09, Jean-Paul Roy <royjp@yahoo.ca> wrote: From: Jean-Paul Roy <royjp@yahoo.ca> Subject: Zenith701801-List: R=E9p. : Zenith701801-List: Warp drive prop len gth???
