Turned out the rudder would hit the roof joist. I called ZAC and asked if I could put a 2" spacer between the fork and the nose gear strut. Answer was yes. I now sit a slightly positve angle of attack on the ground and when taking off there is no ptich up tnendency as when you rotate form an negative AOA to a positive AOA. Which I saw when I flew ZAC's 701. You can see a pix at www.geocities.com/cffd66 look under "Airplane" then " Ready for Inspection". I just used 8 long bolts through the solid block. Chuck D. I would love to see a picture or two of yours to see how it turned out. I wouldn't need to modify the shed... I mean hanger as much, if I could fit the 701 in an 8 foot tall door. If the airplane is corect balanced will stay there, just in case I add a 10 lbs sac in the center of the empenage, if I have to leave it unatended.- - - Just push down gently on the rear fuselage,-near the stabilizer -with t he arm. - Saludos Gary Gower --- On Wed, 2/4/09, kmccune wrote: From: kmccune Subject: Zenith701801-List: Re: WD prop 701/912ul Chuck what height were you able to get the SP version tail height down to u sing the 2" spacer? They are also supposed to be very functional. I have heard a conservative 3-4 MPH increase in speed all the way up th 6-8 MPH speed increase. Strut fairings are well worth the effort to install. My 701 will have them once finished.
