I had the same thing in my Kitfox, but chose to fix it instead of ignore it.
No sign of fuel leak, but I decided it was caused by a very slight leak.
Since I could not find the leak, I resealed ALL the fuel fittings in the cockpit
at annual. Mine has no fuel smell of any sort in the cockpit now, nor for
the past 5 years.
Regards,
Jeff

Rotax 701 on
Thanks for the info. :) I ask because there seem to be more used 80hp Rotaxes
on the market than 100hp. If a used 100hp is only $1K-$2K more, I'll probably
go for the 100hp, but if I can't find a used 100hp or they are WAY higher than
the used 80hp I'll go that route.
Thanks again,

Jon
also consider bolt on horse power for S Hand 912 80 hp
Super Extra pistons ring pin & clips from
http://www.experimentalfuelinjection.com/wst_page9.php 95 HP same weight
or 912 extra pistons pin & Clips claim 95HP (not as good as Super Extra)
