    I even have a larger trim tab on the horizontal elevator then the plans call for. Even with full up trim and vortex generators on the bottom of the elevator, coming in for a landing I need to keep a bit of back pressure on the stick to keep the plane slow enough for approach speed. I had to keep lots more back pressure before I installed the vg's. On the GA planes I have flown they could all be trimmed to hold the correct approach speed without any aft stick pressure, thereby easing the workload making an approach. Does anyone else's 701 have this unconventional characteristic on their plane?     Group,=0A-=0AThis is just a quick note to the group to report a couple of great experiences I've had in the short time I've been a member of this gr oup.- =0A=0AThe first was just over a months ago-courtesy of Jim Mcburn ey.- Jim was nice enough to invite my wife and I to his local EAA chapter meeting and to let us take a long look at his 801 Project.- He bought us lunch and was a very gracious host.- We talked about his choice of engin e, his future ministry plans with the plane, and a multitude of other thing s.- It was a real boost in the arm for my wife and I as we geared up to s tart our 801 Rudder.- Great guy.=0A=0AThe next was during our trip down -to Flight Crafters in Florida to start our Rudder build last week.- Ph il Owens and his lovely-wife-happened to be in the area at the same tim e and were nice enough to take time away from visiting family to meet my wi fe and I for lunch to discuss-their 801 project.- We spent 2.5 hours ra king-Phil over the coals for information and experience he's gained durin g-the build but didn't even scratch the surface of what that man knows. - We learned a lot though and-had a great time getting to know them.- Great folks!=0A=0AI just wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank Jim and Phil for their help and support.- Having folks reach out and fre ely offer their knowledge and experience confirms my decision to build a Ze nith Project.- Having-such a strong community of builders and fliers is a major asset.- Thanks guys!=0A=0AJake Crause=0APooler, GA=0Awww.homebui ltairplanes.com=0A=0A=0A

    Hello Ron, - I also made my trim tab double the width of the one in the plans (from comm ents from pilots while building years ago...),- does a great job, no prob lem for me in trimming for aproach. - For me works great 60 mph indicated with 15 D flaps in final.- I like ver y much the feeling of the airplane at that approach speed, very solid even in turbulence.- probably our altitude here (5,029 ft ASL). and also that we have -a few trees "air shade" just before the numbers... - I keep 60 all the way until ground efect and flare.- I practice often my aproach with engine in idle since basic.- is a steep aproach with a very well timed flare, but I am shure will help eventualy in case of a engine of f landing...
