I am trying to get an idea as to how much to charge to paint a fellow
builders 750. I have painted cars professionally for years and of
course painted my own plane, SkyHawg. I want to be reasonable, but at
the same time I'm not doing it for fun or to have something to do.
So, I was wondering about how much some of you have paid to have your
planes "PROFESSIONAL PAINTED", including all materials?
If some of you could help me out, I would appreciate it.

Hi Larry;
I went looking for quotes on a 701, I got two one just over
$6,000 and the other just under that figure. Both from painters on the local
airport. I decided to paint the plane my self.
do not archive.

I know this has been brought up before, but I can not find it in my papers.
What is the Yamaha part number for the snowmobile boots that are used to
seal the steering rods through the firewall? Thank you very much. If anyone
has an alternative, please let me know.

Larry,
I'd price my time and let the materials selected by the owner finish the
cost to him. I'd think keeping with not being a professional,
you'd price your time at something between $2500 and $3000. If you're
not prepping the plane, move that down to $1000 to $1500.

Sam,
There's an easier way if you like working aluminum. I made these for my
601HDS, but the process would be the same.

They work fine and there's no leakage.

Hey Larry! Does that just slide up and down? That looks like an ingenious
way of sealing! I just remembered that mine are still wide open! Was
thinking I had to seal them off come spring! Thanks! Bob

Larry,
When I had my 601xl painted I received two quotes. One was for $6000 and
the other $3500. The guy with the lower quote told me that's what he
charges (adjusted for the size of airplane) if it's bare aluminum because
stripping paint is a lot of work. I went with the lower quote and I'm happy
with the paint job.

Hi Bob,
Yes, the piece is thinner than the sandwich materials and it has a
grommet that fits the rod within the hole and the piece is captured so
it can go up and down
as well as a little sideways for the radial action of the strut. Two
bolts and it's secure, one thru the bottom and one thru the top.
