A lot of the Sonex guys go the vinyl and polish route as opposed to painting it
for both price and because it saves weight. I have also seen guys use a solid
color for painting their aircraft and then using vinyl graphics and strips instead
of painting them on. Are you talking about using vinyl for graphics, or
covering the entire plane with one big piece of vinyl?

How about ordering the pre-painted 6061-T6 sheet stock?

I think it is supplied with paint on one side, so cert stamp should still be
visible on the backside. Not sure how much it costs, though, vs.
unpainted. I had a trailer manufactured with the stuff - sat outside for 15
years with no sign of corrosion or significant degradation of the paint
material.
