Craig, You might want to not permanently attach it anywhere until you put the plane on scales. I bolted my battery and case on the floor of the fuse behind the co-pilots seat. The plane weighed 604 lbs I think. It might have been better to put it on the firewall to get the cg just a little more toward the forward side of the envelope. A buddy put his as far back in the fuse as he could reach due to the weight of his non-912 engine. Regards, Tommy Walker in Alabama N8701T Do Not Archive The term mayday used for signaling for help (after SOS), comes from the French word m'aidez, which is pronounced "may day" and means "Help Me."

On my 701 with a 912S and no BRS, I placed the battery on the floor directly behind the copilot seat. DanWilde N948DW

Where does the Central Floor Stiffener (7F8-1) go in relation to the Front Lower Bearing Plate (7F8-4)? Does 7F8-1 go below 7F8-2? That is what drawing 7F10 seem to indicate. Won't there be a gap between the floor (7F8-7) and 7F8-1 at the end of 7F8-4? Curt

Not sure which is correct but it can be built either of two ways. The first shot (white paint) is of my unflown 701. I didn't build the section shown. The second shot is of George Race's 701 N73EX (from his excellent DVD of photos). You either have a gap between the floor and the plate or between the plate and the channel. Unfortunately no one has a shot from the side to show what happens between the channel and the plate. The shots in the Zenith photo assembly guide from inside the fuselage don't appear to shot the plate. So I guess it goes outside. I think I prefer it that way - like George's and David's. But it is worth asking Zenith about. Let us know what you find out. -- Craig From: owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Curt Thompson Sent: Monday, March 23, 2009 10:26 PM Subject: Zenith701801-List: CH701 front lower bearing plate (7F8-4) location? David, I see the ten A5 rivets in 7F8-4, then it looks like there are four more A4 rivets, then a gap, and then the two rows of A4 rivets continue. Doesn't that area behind 7F8-4 (between the ten A5's and the four A4's cause a bend in the stiffener (7F8-1) (looking from the side)? I assume that the rivet gap is because you have not put in 7C4-2 (Pedal Central Bearing) yet? Curt p.s. It was good to meet you the other day to talk CH701s. The water jet cutter ripped my 0.75"x4"x96" AL bar down to 3.25" wide like it was butter. The Landing gear is bent and ready to go on the plane. _____ From: owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-zenith701801-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of David L.
