Hello good people! I have been a subscriber to the Matronic's Pietenpol List for a number of years. I have, at great time and effort,?composed a detailed essay, with many photos and diagrams, of a method of carving a wood propeller using all power tools;?electric chain saw and power sanders. ?If anyone on this list is interested in obtaining this CD please contact me off-list and I will send an?e-packet?with complete info. If you can build a 701-801 you can do this. Dan Helsper Poplar Grove, IL.

Hi guys, mine has a fitting from A/C Spruce which passes thru the firewall. Here is the description and part number if you are interested. GASOLATOR MOUNTING FLANGE 05-00907. It has a barbed fitting installed on each end. I hope this helps. That's what I used, with a gascolator in front of the firewall. Although a rubber gas line through a grommet might be OK, I wanted something more fireproof and solid so as not to worry about it. Seemed we spend a lot of time and effort making firewalls fire resistant, running a rubber hose full of gas through it didn't make sense. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dwight Early" <flywarrior2000@yahoo.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 22, 2009 7:12 AM Subject: Zenith701801-List: Re: 701 Fuel line question > <flywarrior2000@yahoo.com> > > Hi guys, mine has a fitting from A/C Spruce which passes thru the > firewall. Hello Fritz, - One of Several -great thing of the ZAC aircrafts have is betwen all- SI MPLICITY.- Remember we are not building or flying a certified aircraft. --- I have 20 years flying ultralight type of airplanes,- most ever y week end (about 100 hrs a year) always used barbed conections and the bes t quality of rubber car fuel lines,- most (like my 701)-use(d) -the -firewall groumet type, never had a problem,- we (for self imposed-ma ntainance rules in our club) change the gasoline hoses every two years.- Not expensive.- Never had found problems with the firewall area in the ho ses... - Only add Simplicity and Lightness to a airplane.--- If not installed will not fail.- KISS (self explanatory :-) - Saludos Gary Gower Flying from Chapala, Mexico. Homebuilding, as free(dom)- -as-flying can get. --- On Tue, 4/21/09, fritz <klondike@megalink.net> wrote: From: fritz <klondike@megalink.net> Subject: Re: Zenith701801-List: Re: 701 Fuel line question <klondike@megalink.net> Tommy, For some reason the post due not appear on my email on a regular basis. I. E. I just noticed the post below attached to this letter. To penetrate the firewall on my 701 ( I have since sold it) I used a "brass Barb fitting" from the local hardware store. Used rubber fuel line on both sides , pushed tight to the firewall, so it couldn't vibrate and clamped the lines. I think Dan is OK with what he did below. I feel that just a rubber gromet in the firewall was not enough. Just my opinion. Bel ieve me , I have the most respect for Chris, But there are several places where some things can be accomplished a little better. After 60 hours there was no sign of wear on the grommet or fuel line. I looked at the pla ns, reviewed all of the assembly guidelines for the601, 701, and 801 (on the Ze nith site) and could not find a picture or any mention of how to install the fue l lines. > > I think with frequent inspections, the rubber hose thru the grommet is ok but there is the possibility of the grommet wearing out and the fuel line b eing cut by the sharp firewall. I reviewed HomebuiltHelp's video on 912 installation tips and they had a picture of the rubber fuel line coming thr u the firewall inside of an electrical conduit connector. After reviewing this, I came to the conclusion that this would be less likely to cause a problem so I made the change. It only took me a couple of hours. This is one area where Zenith could offer some guidelines in their documents. > > Dan Wilde > > Tommy Walker wrote: <twalker@cableone.net> >> >> Hi Klondike, >> >> Would you care to elaborate?
