Out of curiosity, those who have used the .125" wall angle, did you used teh standard
rivets?

I used the standard pulled rivets because they have sufficient grip, but for
the cabin sides and spar, (i.e. solid rivets) I made chart for the sum of
the thicknesses and adjusted the length as needed.

In an earlier post I said it was OK to use A5 instead of the A4 in the spar.
I too was unsatisfied with the alignment and needed to drill out to A5
The fact that I used a 0.125 Extrusion allowed me to make the decision that
it was ok to do this.

I upped the ad5-6 to ad5-7, the avex I left the same. Spar web .025, +Cap .125
=grip lenght .150. + .156 rivet dia x 1.5= .234+.150=.384 which is a touch short
for a -6 rivet. When riveting I didn't pay so much attention to the height
as long as the shop head was 1.5 times the rivet starting diameter. The cabin
sides are .032 material and the -6 is way too short.
Aircraft Sheet Metal by Jeppesen and AC43-13B are both good reference and procedure
books.

I should have said .384 is a touch LONG for a -6 rivet. The .040 strut/web spar
doubler makes the 7/16 long rivet near perfect length.

Zenith construction standards will also give the added length required for
a given rivet diameter. do not archive.
