Subject: | Flaperon edge distance |
I am building the flaperons from a 701 kit (made prior to CNC punching). The skins
are pre punched and I have lined up the lower rivets with the centerline
of the lower spar cap as stated in the instructions. My problem is that when
I pull the top of the skin down to the spar the pre-punched holes give me an edge
distance of only about one hole diameter. I am not making any attempt to
pull the nose skin tight against the nose ribs, but the trailing edge of the top
skin still overlaps the bottom by a little more than 1mm. I am wondering if
anyone else has experienced this.
The only solution I can see is to clamp the trailing edges flush with each
other and drill/cleco them first--then tie the skin down flat against the ribs
and drill/cleco the spar line. Any thoughts?
