Hello,
Not my personal experience (building from plans), but I am told ZAC will
replace bad parts at no charge.
May be worth a phone call...

Jake. A proper CNC punched skin should be more accurate then you can mea
sure. I would take a fine line sharpie and draw a line through the good
holes and project that out to the bad holes. Take a pic or two and email
it to Zenith. They are wanting to produce a quality kit and feedback li
ke this only helps them get better. My guy feeling is either the sheet s
lipped during the punching process or the program was incorrect.

The placement of the pre-punched holes on my 801 rudder skins don't seem
to be drilled very accuratly. 80% of the holes in a line are laid out
on a common center line but the other 20% are offset by a couple of mill
imeters. It's not caused a real problem but I'm curious if this is par
for the course? It's not a big deal but I expected more accuracy from C
NC punched parts is all. Jake

Subject: | CH-801 with a 150hp engine |
Does anyone have any numbers on the performance of the CH-801 using the low
est powered engine (150hp)-recommended by Zenith for this plane?- If an
yone owns an 801 with a 150hp engine could you let me know how it performs?
- Any power issues concerning climbs or possible dangerous conditions? I'
m looking at a 150hp engine now since Zenith-recommends engine sizes betw
een 220-150hp, but the website only-shows stats using a 180hp Lycoming.

Thanks,
Jay

Bill, how did you attach your front float struts to the fuselage? I have
drawings from CAW showing basically a quarter-inch-thick tang sandwiched
between the firewall and lower motor mount, sharing the motor mount bolt.
This tang is bent and bolted to the strut. It seems "all wrong" to
me--multiplying the shear stress on the motor mount bolt not to mention
adding much to the tension stress. If you did it that way, how's it working
out?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses.- So far I've only noticed a prob
lem with the rudder spar (which they replaced) and both rudder skins (which
are not bad enough to be replaced).- I'll be starting the HS in a couple
of days.--I'll be keeping a close eye on the parts and if I-run into
any inconsistencies I'll let the company know.-=0A=0AJake-=0A=0A=0A=0A
