It would be nice if someone could figure and share how to put a wind up type spring
on the inside if the door handle. One that would require a firm twist to
open the handle.

I like Chris' old design door on the early 701's. Bubble framed door
with a window that opened. I'll do the same type of door on my
750----or have the upper part like a cub (swing up) and the lower part
hinged on the forward edge. I haven't decided yet.

idea. They have a large surface area combined with a cup shape.
This would in the least create a large pitch variation and adverse yaw
if not opened on both sides.
The forces exerted against the frame and hinge would be large given
the long length. If the hinge did not give out, then at least a large
stress will be placed on the subframe there.
If the door did come off then the risk to catastrophic damage to the
tail seems great.
Wasn't there an indicdent mentioned on the list where the door popped
open in flight causing it to tear off and hit the tail?

Another option is to install tracks inside the cabin and lift the door
up like a window.

Hello list members.
I have been building a hangar for my Zenith 701, and my friend and I
are trying to find a way to buy some plastic wheels for the doors.
The wheels must have a V groove like this:

I have been trying to find a place to buy this kind of wheels but
either there is no response from the company or the shipping cost is
more than the price of the wheels.
We will need 16 wheels and not necessarily with the bearing in the
centre. We could have it with a plastic insert or even a metal rod for
the bolt.
If anyone can find a place where this product is available and for a
reasonable price 10-15 $ pr/pc. plus shipping cost to Iceland (for
less than $200), I would very much appreciate the help.

I'd make my own, or find a machinist to do it. Just a matter of machining
the grooves and drilling the center, then cut apart into wheels. If you
can't access a strong enough plastic material of the diameter required,
wouldn't steel be suitable??? Maybe a bit noisier, but very strong....

(US). Part #2310T51. They also have plastic ones but are more money. The
weight savings might make up the difference in shipping.

Tracy,
Why not just remove the doors before you take off? Just pull the long hinge
pin out and off you go. If you do this be prepared to ride in a very windy
cockpit. My plane flies OK without doors but we get plenty of prop wash.
