I actually spoke to Jon about this. The challenge for Jon is that there just aren't
enough 801 builders out there to justify the investment on his part. It
actually costs him more that you might think (thousands of dollars) to produce
these DVD series. Zenith only sells a handful of 801 kits/plans a year, thus
not yielding enough potential DVD purchasers to break even. From what I understand
the 801 is much more challenging to build than the 701 or 750, so I understand
your desire to have his products support this.

Actually the 801 plans are not even available. The aircraft is only
sold as a complete kit, so this reduces the volume considerably.

Robert;
I got in late on this conversation and may have misunderstood, but are you
saying that you can't buy the CH-801 in segments anymore?....ie the wings,
fuselage, rudder, elevator..etc., and now have to buy the complete airframe
-because it is being-manufactured in Canada? I'm hoping I misunderstood
.

Jay,
Sorry for the misunderstanding, but akskydiver is absolutely correct,
kit components but no possibility of purchasing plans only for the 801.
You might also be interested to know that their decision, not offer the
plans, has nothing what so ever to do with where it's being made.

Kevin,
The wing tank access cover shown in the plans is what I am planning on doing with
my wings. I see no problem with using a cover as shown. And it beats removing
the whole top skin or half of a top skin to get at the tanks if necessary.

This is not even shown in my plans, someone emailed me the above pic. I guess my
question is can it be made for dual tanks too. I did yesterday on the Zenith
builder site see that Ken P has dual tanks and a big opening in the skin, so
presumably a big single cover.

Does it have to do with preventing a Savannah version of the 801?
