Bob,
You're going to have to warm the materials to above 65-degrees F and
then apply. 3M Formula 77 is a good spray adhesive that holds well once
cured.
It won't cure well below 65 degrees F, but will hold tenaciously to -40
degrees F after the cure. Take the materials indoors to a good ambient
temp and allow
the materials to thaw. Clean the surfaces of old adhesive and/or paint
and then start over, spray, let set a couple of minutes, press contact
surfaces together
and allow it all to cure for a day.

Subject: | Spinner installation? |
I ordered my spinner and hub from Zenith as part of the FWF package. It is a
9" UHS for the 3 bladed warp drive.
The fiberglass back of the spinner only has seven holes in it. One in the
center and then six towards the edge that match the holes used to secure the
hub to the prop flange on the engine..
The Zenith construction manual shows a different spinner than they sent me,
one where bolt heads appear to sit recessed into the hub.
So it looks like there are two ways I could secure the spinner:
1. Remove the prop from the flange, then feed the hub bolts through the
spinner's back into the hub.
2. Get six more bolts and drill six holes that match the inner ring of
holes on the hub, then drill out the out ring on the spinner.
The first choice worries me since the fiberglass would be crushed at the
torque values required for the hub bolts.
The second choice seems like a good way to get the spinner off center.
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks,
John Marzulli

I'll second using 3M #77.
I have added some sound deadening material to the inspection/controls bay. I
have snagged it a few times while working back there and the glue has held
VERY firmly.

I've been using 3M weatherstripping adhesive in a tube on a variety of
projects. Seems similar to the 77 spray except in a tube. I haven't
tried it in a cold environment.

For those of you that couldn't make it to the Corvair college; here is a video

The 2200 is 85HP.

John.
Yes, the spinner backing plate goes between the prop and the engine
flange. If the flange holes don't line up with the spinner backing
plate they sent you the wrong spinner.

OK you Gurus of 701;
-
I'm in a quandary on two points:
-
One - when you figure the elevator deflection up and down.--Do you star
t from neutral on the top of the elevator and use an electronic level?- O
r do you (if your using a level) start from a line from the hinge pin - cen
ter of rotation - to the center of the trailing edge.- Don't want to buil
d the jig as shown on Zenith drawings if I don't have to.
-
Now the next question - when mounting the horizontal stabilizer to the fuse
lage it shows a dimension of 135 mm from the top of the spar - front and re
ar - to an A-E reference line.- If-I do this-the lower elevator horn
-seems -to have a lot of interference to the upper -rudder mounting p
late.- It shows to "cut out the offending area" but that would really "bi
te" into the elevator horn structure in my situation. Can you mount the sta
b higher to aviod some of this or what.
-
Is there a trick that I can't seem to resolve - let me know ASAP - I've alr
eady spent the morning in the shop trying to sort this out.
-
Thanks

I have no first-hand experience with Jabiru, but at AirVenture met a guy wh

out the Jabiru engines from all of his planes because of bad performance an

because Jabiru did not standing behind their product. I think he said that

I hope you get some good answers, I'm thinking about the same thing .-
So far I haven't been able to get much info. I"ve tried jabiru usa-
about the engine, but they won't
even answer my e mail much less give me the TBO and other info i've-
asked for, makes me wonder how much service I would get if I bought-
their engine.
Good luck.

Are any of you 701/750/801 drivers upgrading to the new Matco rims?
I am trying to decide if it is really a safety issue.
