Not being an electrical engineer I wonder why they don't make a retrofit starter/alternator for our engines. Would save a lot of weight and maintenance. I understand that some new cars now have them and almost all of the garden tractors too. There would certainly be a market and the technology is there. Bob, Wichita

The only downside to up-sizing your mount bolts that I can see is maintaining edge distance. If that is possible then you can do it I suppose. A bigger question would be, have you heard of any problems with using -3 bolts in this application? If it ain't broke, etc, etc. There are eight bolts after all. Thanks Larry! I have been iterating on the designs a bit and "tried them on": http://marzulliphoto.net/Airplanes/Paint-Concept-Mockups/11035687_hWa9V/1/772034362_PfLo8 Thanks, John Marzulli http://www.GenevieveMarzulli.org/ http://MarzulliPhoto.net/ http://701Builder.blogspot.com/ On Sat, Jan 23, 2010 at 2:49 PM, Larry McFarland <larry@macsmachine.com>wrote: > larry@macsmachine.com> > > John, > I like your first iteration as it's something I've not seen before. Hello Craig, - Only add lightness and simplicity to your airctaft...- Start thinking that way and when finished you had added-so much weight th at will perform-like an Armor Truck in a NASCAR race... - Saludos Gary Gower Flying from Chapala 701 912S-- 302 hrs of fun flying with same bed mount and AN-3 bolts... --- On Sat, 1/23/10, Craig Payne <craig@craigandjean.com> wrote: From: Craig Payne <craig@craigandjean.com> Subject: Zenith701801-List: Bolts for Rotax motor mount to firewall I have the old bed-style motor mount. I thought it was a mistake in my fourth-hand kit but that is wha t the plans show too. What size bolts hold the newer ring-style mount to th e firewall? Can anyone see any downside to stepping up to AN4? - -- Craig =0A=0A=0A
