Would save a lot of weight and maintenance. I understand that some new cars now have them and almost all of the garden tractors too. There would certainly be a market and the technology is there. If that is possible then you can do it I suppose. A bigger question would be, have you heard of any problems with using -3 bolts in this application? If it ain't broke, etc, etc. There are eight bolts after all.
