Tubing
It DOES make it easier to come up with the end result which is
streamlined struts for efficiency BUT at approx. a 10# penalty over
round struts with either the plastic cuffs or bent up .016 alum.

WICKS AIRCRAFT SLASHES PRICES ON STREAMLINE TUBING
Highland, Il - Wicks Aircraft Supply has received an enormous
shipment of AMERICAN MADE streamline tubing, or strut material, and
the
high volume allows them to cut prices on popular sizes by 40 to 60
percent.
Thus tubing that was once $29.58 per foot is now $13.50; stock that
sold
for $21.47 per foot is now $11.50. The material is being stocked for
homebuilders and restorers.
There is no cutting charge for streamline tubing. Most early orders
can
be shipped out the same day they are received. For a complete list of
sizes
available visit www.wicksaircraft.com and click on 4130 streamline
tubing.
Or call the company at 800.221.9425; overseas call 1.618.654.7447.
.
Wicks Aircraft Supply has made substantial cuts in the prices
for 4130 streamline tubing.

All, I have seen this part put on 2 different ways.
1 - Between the floor skin and 7F8-1 (Central Floor Stiffener) (as per the assembly
guide)
2 - Between the firewall and the floor skin
Any advantages to either one?
Thanks,
Keith

My 4th hand kit was like #2 but I switched it to #1. Two thoughts:
1. the plans (if you look close) and the photo guide show it this way
2. Some piece of sheet metal has to span a gap. I felt it was better to have
the stiffener span the gap than the floor.

Tubing
I intend usingStream line Aluminium struts in my latest build CH701. no
weight penalty or the disadvantage of the bent up .016 alum covers
my concern with the covers is you can,t see the corosion in the round
tube under neath and it does corrode.
I had to repaint round struts soon after assembly rust coming through
paint.
(The were stripped back rust treated and repainted)
and now two years later there is again corosion coming through paint.
