Did you consider that? I drilled a small pilot hole through the side of the fuselage and ran some string through it to gauge which direction and how far the slots would need to be cut. Ultimately. I ended up slotting the side of the fuselage and the fairlead as required to get the string/cable running in as straight a line as possible between the rudder and the fairleads up front. This is one of those areas where you can adjust the hole and slot location as needed. Everybody's is going to differ from each other and probably from the blueprint dimensions too. The cable should bear on the fairlead as there is a small change of direction as the rudder cable exits the fuselage. Placing the fairlead under the small fairing is the correct location as cable tension will hold the fairlead in compression rather than in tension on the rivets if on the inside of the fuselage. You can mess with the fairlead a cover with the whole thing held to the fuselage with clecos before you commit to final riveting. Have fun. If I stretch the cable from the rudder to the fair lead in the fuselage there is interference in the cable and the fuselage side - can't remember the "nylon" part number, but the print shows that you cut a 1/8th slot to 15 mm from the end then pass the cable thru this slot. If I do this the cable will rub on the fwd part of the hole in the AL. I've tried several ideas up to trying to fabricate a fair lead from a tube of nylon but just can't seem to get what I want. The other option is that I make the slot in the "nylon" material - say 15mm long or so - just long enough to keep the cable from rubbing on the fuselage side skin fwd and aft.. Everyone's ideas are more than welcome. I'd like some rapid response as as I plan to route the cables - right or wrong - tomorrow. Hopfully some one with the correct idea will read this and send me some ideas and pictures. As usual thanks for your help -,getting back off line would be fine with me _madriver@wildblue.net_ (mailto:madriver@wildblue.net) Phil (http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Zenith701801-List) (http://www.matronics.com/contribution) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message zenith701801-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Zenith701801-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/zenith701801-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/zenith701801-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
