John. I just drilled mine (912UL) as per the Dynon installation manual. They suggest 2" to 8" from the cylinder. This works out nice as 6" comes at a very nice straight stretch on the two rear headers. Sorry my input came a little late. Did you resolve it and drill them yet. I also bought some header wrap for these areas only, to protect the cooling hoses that pass so close by........Geoff Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=291402#291402

I used a little heat & spooned the dent out a bit more, then 3 or 4 more heat/ice cycles, and got most of the "bubble" out. Since it's on the leading edge the bubble will flatten out (I free-formed the sheet to it's eventual shape to check this) and the best news is the location is under the slat so that helps as well. Thanks again for the tips. Jimmy Y 750 builder Houston TX Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=291448#291448
