Subject: | Re: EGT probe locations for 912S with Zenith exhaust? |
Thanks for all the feedback. The question is resolved and I'm now on to over-analyzing
the next issue.
Per Mark's suggestion, I mounted them at the Rotax-specified distance even though
it put the probes on a curve. The "hose-clamps" fit fine without deformation
and I'm no longer concerned about leaks or loosening.
I suspect the header wrap is a good idea too for the reason Geoff mentions. I've
got some but I think I'll do some full power runups before I put it on so I
can get some before and after EGT data.
They don't call it "Experimental" for nuthin...
John

Subject: | Oil pressure gauge |
I am having a problem with the oil pressure gauge in my 701,
The meter jumps from 80 to 40 or back to 60..it is very erratic
I have replaced the gauge and sender three times ..but each
gives problems after a short time. These gauges are electric.
If I replace it with a mechanical gauge it works fine...there are no
joins
in the connecting wires but I think I will have to replace them.
anyone have any Ideas to cure the problem..The unit I installed recently
is Electronic but it gives me the same trouble.

This may not apply, but on my RV-10 I had a bad ground connect and was
having similar problems with my fuel pressure sender.

Subject: | Zenith STOL CH-701 fuselage & parts available |
A few years ago Howard (see below) was scratch building a Zenith 701, his
dream airplane, in the hanger next to mine in Petaluma CA. He made an
excellent firewall back fuselage using stainless, rather than aluminum parts
in hi-stress places and bearings where bushings were specified. He was
getting ill when I knew him, and probably did not complete anything except
this fus.
I hope someone can use his carefully built fus and pick-up where Howard
left-off. I know he would have wanted it this way

I have just heard from Kathryn Carter, Howard's daughter, that he passed
away on March 8. My condolences to his family and friends.
Kathryn also told me that Howard was building a Zenith STOL CH-701 when he
passed away. She would like to sell the partly built Zenith fuselage and
aircraft tools/parts. If you are interested, please contact her directly
at 707-338-8260.
