Subject: | 701/750 question |
Greetings.
As I understand it the 701 and the 750 have the same tail surfaces. I
was wondering if the rear fuselage was made of material of the same
thickness.
What are the thickness' of the longerons and skin on the two aircraft tails?
Thanks for any help.

The only parts that are the same between the 701 and the 750 is the rudder. The
spar web for the 701 rudder was upped to 032 so that the rudder could be common
between the two planes.
The H-stab is similar but bigger and the elevator is significantly different on
the 750.
As for the fuselage, the 750 has a real nice extrusion in the corners as opposed
to the 701s 040 "L" angle. The rear fuselage skins on 750 are 020 as opposed
to the 701s 016 skin.
I am in the process of painting my scratch 701 and I am helping a buddy kit build
his 750.

Doug,
Thanks for setting me straight on the tails. What size would you say
the 750 extrusion is?
Thanks,

It's about 2" by 2". It is a custom extrusion made for Zenith. The 020 skins
fit flush into it. It also has a nice radius of about an inch. Makes for a much
nicer finish to the plane.

Doug,
Thanks again for taking the time to write. The LSA is looking better
and better, and I haven't bought too many parts for the 801 yet. Time to
make a decision!
