Hello Keith,
-
I live also in high land, my landing strip is at 5,029 ft ASL (gps numbers)
.
We have twice take off from 8,015 with two on board-in the morning (temp
about 75F),- paved strip.-(Atizapan) No big problem.
Most of the strips around-my flying area,-are up to 7,300...
-
We normally cruise from 9,500 up.-- Our engine is a Rotax 912S 100 hp.
-
Hope this helps.
-
Saludos

Thanks for the info Chuck. Since I live at 9,100' the majority of my flying
will be around 10.5 and above. Not a whole lot of fliers up at this altitu
de, so I am having a hard time trying to find which engine would work best.

I usually fly low between 1000 and 2500 ft. AGL. But the other day I wanted
to see what my Jabiru 2200 powered CH 701 could do. I climbed to 10,000 ft
. (11,300 density altitude), final climb rate at 10K was 200 to 300 ft/min.
Engine was smooth all the way and temps were good.-Sure can see a long w
ay from up there.
Having Fun,
Chuck D.
