From: dennkrumm@aol.com Craig - Find a store dealing with selling welding equipment and supplies. They have everything you need. Welding cable is more flexible but can carry the load easily. The clerks there usually can't spell their own name the same way twice. That said, welding cable is best obtained from a real 'welding supply' outlet. You'll notice a large fenced area with hundreds of oxygen & other gas cylinders, and customers who look like they work for a living. (Won't be any baggy pants or low-rider cars with loud music nearby) Most real industrial welding supply places even have the proper crimpers for attachment of the terminals. Since you won't know the exact length, here's a suggestion -- Purchase the cable and end terminals, measure/fit the cable ON THE PLANE, then go back to the source for the crimp job. Another hint - Some in the 'welding business' think that several sharp blows with a large hammer is a 'good' crimp......it'll weld okay. The Hammer Crimp isn't a good choice. Ask before they crimp. Another source of really good crimps is a Lineman at your local electric co-op. They usually have an assortment of big long-handled heavy-duty industrial-grade just-what-you-need crimpers. Sorry for the long-winded answer....keyboard went crazy. Thanks for all the feedback on battery cables. For various reasons (like working in California and flying home to Utah where the plane is on some weekends) it was best to order on-line. I found a source of welding cable with a reasonable minimum length and good price: www.delcity.net. I will be crimping and soldering the lugs myself as I have the tools. -- Craig ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message zenith701801-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Zenith701801-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/zenith701801-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/zenith701801-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
