I have only found a couple of them. Seems like all the manufacturers make hubs for Rotax only. When I built my 701 and a Starduster Too before that I always quit building in the summer. Too much other stuff to do, I guess. I'm busy flying right now, trying to measure all the flight parameters of my stock 701, then repeat without the slats, then repeat with VG's. I met a guy the other day who put VG's on one wing of a super cub and he said he definitely could feel their increased lift, and could easily control the asymmetric lift with aileron. I haven't decided if I'm that brave or not. Anyone try flying their 701 with ONE slat or with VG's on only ONE wing? -------------------------------------------------- From: "fritz" Sent: Thursday, June 17, 2010 5:07 PM Subject: Re: Zenith701801-List: Sparse List Traffic..... > > Hi Zed ---- I monitor the 601 list also, not much going on over there > except for the traffic concerning the "mod updates".------ 750 list also > fairly quiet. > > Except for those flying and near completion----- do you see things slowing > down at your local airport etc? > Fritz---------do not archive > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Zed Smith" > To: > Sent: Thursday, June 17, 2010 4:48 PM > Subject: Zenith701801-List: Sparse List Traffic..... > > >> >> >> do not archive >> >> Yes, fellows, traffic has dropped off.....mainly because all those sissy >> low-wing 601 drivers left when they got their own list. >> This posting will probably cause a spike in traffic for a day or so, as >> they post rebuttals ranging from mild to downright inflamatory. >> >> Still working on a 701/R912/90+%/etc >> >> Regards to all, >> >> >> Zed >> >> >> >> > > > ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 07:06:12 PM PST US Subject: Re: Zenith701801-List: Sparse List Traffic..... From: JG Gday All, It's summer time on that side of the world, eh. Surely folks are out and about instead of sitting at a computer screen..... Yeh, I've tried VGs on just one wing, several times. No problem, but at stall the wing without drops first. I haven't tried just one slat.... That would be something like flying a twin on just one engine - a pretty strong yaw effect I would think. Don't think I'd care to try it....... Down under it's winter, but this is our most enjoyable season for flying. Maybe frosty at night, but warm sunny days. So come Saturday four of us, one 701 and three Savannahs, are off on a flight to the center of Australia, Alice Springs, Uluru, Lake Eyre, etc. Sure wish we could fly around some of that magnificent country in the western USA. I hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as we're enjoying our winter. Thanks for the report, JG. I was thinking of flying over to the local airport with 10,000 feet of runway, removing one slat and doing a sort of fast taxi and just getting airborn in a low crowhop, but I'd bet it would yaw like crazy and wouldn't be worth it. Definitely need lots of rudder! I'll try the VG's on one side. Sounds safer. From: JG Sent: Sunday, June 20, 2010 9:05 PM Subject: Re: Zenith701801-List: Sparse List Traffic..... This posting will probably cause a spike in traffic for a day or so, as they post rebuttals ranging from mild to downright inflamatory.
