Give the FAA in you area a call, tell them your situation and generally
they will come out when they
have time. Call two or three weeks ahead of time. It will only take an
hour or so. At least that how long
they spent with me.. Joseph

1. 10:11 PM - DAR Inspection (philip smith)

Subject: Zenith701801-List: DAR Inspection
From: philip smith <madriver@wildblue.net>
OK my next problem. You folks have always come to my rescue in previous
jambs.
After three years of building and anticipating the sign-off of my CH 701 I
find that the DAR that I spoke with three years ago who did inspections in
our area - Boise ID / Twin Falls ID - has hung up his hat and no longer
does
the airworthiness inspections.
I looked - cursory glance - at the EAA list of inspectors and the closest
three I could find were: Salt Lake City Utah area, Eastern Oregon and
Montana - all some distance away.
I have been told, but not checked, the FAA office in Boise does not do the
inspection due to lack of time and also not the proper credentials.
What to do, what to do - I should be ready in a matter of weeks. Any ideas
of DAR volunteers that would like to make a nice trip to sunny southern
Idaho, would offer the possibility of great home cooked meals, lodging,
golf, trout fishing just about anything to get this done expeditiously.
Your thoughts please, drop an email or give me a call.

Subject: | 701 Wing Fairings |
About 6 months ago, I bought a set of wing fairings from Raven
Aviation. I finally got around to installing them and this is what I
found for my airplane.
No fairings installed:
Temp 60
5000 rpm Rotax 912S
86 mph
Altitude - 2000'
Rear fairings only installed:
Temp 60
5000 rpm
88 mph
Altitude - 2000'
Front and rear fairings installed:
*Temp 80*
5000 rpm
90 mph
Altitude - 2000
Because of the recent heat wave here (Central Valley California), I
could not test at the same temperature as the two previous flights. I
believe I will see a 1mph increase to about 91 mph when the temperature
drops back to 60 degrees at 2000'.
