    Don't forget that at this point it had still 30 deg of flap so maybe it did get off the ground quicker. Just think of the little picture on the Zenith site that shows the 701 popping right off the ground and then flying down the field to pick up speed. The airframe was shorter was well, if its not there it can't weigh anything. If you want some more lightening ideas. John B has recently posted a list on the Yahoo 701 builders site. As for how much it weighed, I agree that 480 was probably closer to the actual, just like the 580 lbs listed now is optimistic for a standard/912 build. In fact its interesting that 20 lbs is the same measure of optimism, now and then, (must be what the box of Labatts weighs that they use as a pedestal on top of the scale :)) Kevin Benjamin Q wrote: > > The interesting thing about that web link is the performance numbers.
